Fonctions principales
Reporting to the Technical Marketing Product Development Director of Lallemand Plant Care, you will co-ordinate field and laboratory research within the broadacre crop markets and be responsible for independently executing, troubleshooting and optimizing field-based research trials related to product type, dose and implementation using biological insecticides.
Task associated with this position also include to, but may not be limited to:
-Performing field trials using biological insecticides;
-Understanding of spray equipment, calibration and application of herbicides and/or other chemical and biological products;
-Developing and/or modifying experimental protocols as needed, from literature reviews, consultation with other scientists etc.;
-Performing laboratory bioassays with insects and biological insecticides;
-Using aseptic laboratory techniques to culture and enumerate fungi, yeast and/or bacteria;
-Having knowledge of and executing statistical data analyses;
-Maintaining accurate records of laboratory and field-related activities;
-Having a good understanding of the broadacre market needs, pests and challenges;
-Generating oral and written reports as necessary to summarize field trial results and activities;
-Developing data that can be used to generate marketing related materials and confidence in product position and value;
-Providing strategic recommendations and observations to management and staff on results of projects/tasks;
-Being proactive in initiating communication with management, project team, and other required staff and business units, key influencers and growers as needed to coordinate project activities effectively.
Technical skills
Requis- Undergraduate or Graduate Degree in Entomology, Insect Pathology, Agricultural Science, Plant Science, Plant Pathology, Microbiology and/or a related field;
- Experience in field trial related research;
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft programs (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint);
- A demonstrated ability to utilize aseptic technique in the laboratory using microorganisms i.e. fungi, yeast and/or bacteria;
- A demonstrated ability to design experiments and do careful and meticulous experimentation;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience in writing comprehensive reports, and proposals;
- Proficiency in statistical data analyses using software packages.
- Certified professional agronomist [CP. Ag] designation is considered beneficial;
- A demonstrated understanding of biological insecticide use, and/or biofungicide use, and/or products used in growth promotion of plants in an agricultural setting.

General criteria
Requis- Field work is required and can be physically demanding, applicants should have the capacity to lift more than 25 pounds;
- Canadian citizen or relevant work permit .
